Know how I've always marveled and pondered the many ways authors handle the subject of dragons? Well, in Seraphina, they are intelligent, possess advanced technology, and have a magical ability that lets them take human form. The book takes place in a world where humans and dragonkind exist in a constant state of mistrust. After warring with the humans for time eternal, the leaders of the two races had finally come together to agree upon a peace treaty.

Now forty years have passed, and while dra

I have to admit that Seraphina by Rachel Hartman was quite an enjoyable read. There are dragons, there is murder, there is intrigue and there are secrets. And our protagonist, Seraphina, finds herself in the middle of it all while trying her hardest to not be noticed. Why does she not want to be noticed? I should have written this review BEFORE I read the second book, because it's coloring this whole thing.

I really REALLY liked this book. Seraphina, a half-human/half-dragon girl was really interesting. I really liked her and the other half-dragons she meets. I really liked Kiggs and Selda and even the way this book ended. I thought the entire thing was just really interesting and a great set-up for a sequel (glad it was only ONE sequel, BTW, and not a trilogy!!)
