This took me a long time to get through! Worth reading the one with the afterword by Sally Beauman. She raised so many interesting views of the novel that I would love to read it again in a few years time.
This novel has been a favorite of mine since high school. It has the components of romance and mystery rolled into one novel. The story centers around Mrs. Rebecca de Winter who died and her widow, Maxim de Winter. Maxim remarried and his bride feels like she is taking over the life of Rebecca. Mrs. Danvers makes her life more stressful by showing her hate for the bride.

I lost interest about halfway through and struggled to get through the rest of it. I don't understand why this book is so highly rated, I found it boring and kept waiting for something to actually happen. Once I finally got to the end I was disappointed again, not a good ending in my humble opinion.
