What Members Thought
This book isn't really like anything I've read before. It is my first foray into magical realism. I started reading this book, got about 40 pages in, and thought that it would be good to keep reading while I vacationed at the beach. Well, this is NOT a typical beach read. This book was hard for me. I had to really concentrate while I was reading it. It has been said 1000 times before but I'm going to repeat it anyway- keeping the characters straight is not easy! Instantly moved to favorite books shelf, and ranked above Love in the Time of Cholera. So beautiful that I never wanted it to end.
Paragraphs would’ve helped me a lot here. It’s not terrible but I’m going with two stars because I just didn’t care. About anyone. Forcing myself to read the book just to finish a book is never a good sign for me. Not a reread, not a keeper.
