What Members Thought
I appreciate that it is the basest sentimentality, with disturbingly upfront moral lessons, and so ridiculously outdated it hurts. But I love it so much - it makes me laugh, it makes me cry. It's so tender and straightforward and everyone is given the opportunity to grow and develop. I am a little confused by myself, but it will always be one of my favourite books.

I read this for the first time when I was in 6th grade, and it was for a reading challenge (read as many books as you can from a list of age appropriate classics). It was an abridged edition, and all I can say about that now is "Thank God!" because I can't imagine my little 11 year old self suffering through this story of women waiting around for the right man to find them! I really didn't feel like there was enough plot to drive this book, and I didn't feel like much of it was applicable to cur

As a side note, the kindle version of this includes an epilogue that is not in the original! (And I suspect Alcott would have disapproved of).
