Chapter 1 in the siege and storm and the escapade of the last chapter in the Shadow and Bone is forgotten. I'm not good with books with a lot of tension because I easily get frustrated and took a lot of breaks in between chapters. So it took a long time before I decided to read this. This second book of the Grishaverse takes us really up and down the world that Bardugo wrought, giving us a good expansion beyond the continent shown on the map in the first book and taking us far and wide, especially to Novyi Zem, where the book begins. It has been exactly a year since I have last read Shadow and Bone and I know I should of reread it before I moved on to this book but I couldn't wait! I found myself enthralled in this book at the very first chapter. First let me say, what a wonderful second installment of this series. All the good romance even if it's in triangle form. Good action and good mystery! Anyone who has yet to read this excellent series, they should certainly put Shadow and Bone at the top of their August reading list

This was so good I need the next book like right now! In this book Alina travels all around and meets all sorts of different people. A new character pops into this book that I love, Nikolai. His witty humor and easy going just makes it easy to like him even if you want to stab him like Alina at another moment. I love how complex they have all become. Alina has multiple things she wants but isn't sure if it is just because of the collar or fetter. I can't wait to see how this all wraps up, I don'
