I probably never would have read The Boys in the Boat if someone hadn't recommended it to me. Although it was on the New York Times nonfiction best seller list for many weeks, I don't often read sports the subject of the book--the 1936 men's Olympic rowing team--didn't sound particularly interesting to me.
