INCREDIBLY AMAZING!!!!!!!
Last Sacrifice is the last book in the Vampire Academy series and it doesn’t disappoint! I was hooked from the very first pages and stayed up throughout the early hours of the morning to read this book all in one go. All I can say is Richelle Mead you have outdone yourself once again! I can’t express just how much I have anticipated and longed for this book, the wait was intense and pure torture. I can gladly say it was worth every second though.

Last Sacrifice is the last book in the Vampire Academy series and it doesn’t disappoint! I was hooked from the very first pages and stayed up throughout the early hours of the morning to read this book all in one go. All I can say is Richelle Mead you have outdone yourself once again! I can’t express just how much I have anticipated and longed for this book, the wait was intense and pure torture. I can gladly say it was worth every second though.

Throughout the book I was pulled into Rose’s world and couldn’t help but wonder how things would end. I only had one demand from Mead. That Rose and Dimitri would end up together. FINALLY. They get the happy ending that they deserve, their relationship has been tested and pushed beyond the limits and yet it has only made them stronger and love one another more. Dimitri FINALLY realises that he has loved Rose all along. He had just blocked those feelings for her out due to being so consumed by guilt. I was excited when he helped break her out of jail and was even more excited when they were running away together. Along with Sydney (Who I have come to really like as a character) I could feel the intensity burning between them the whole time they were together. Especially when they were alone, even so they both managed to keep themselves in check. *Mostly* A favourite moment was when Rose wants to escape from being on the run with Dimitri. At the time she can think of nothing worse than being forced to be so close around him knowing that she loves him and that he doesn’t love her back. Her escape tactics were priceless. I found myself laughing and thinking ‘That’s so Rose’ when she distracts him with a kiss and then catches him off guard with a punch to the face. I loved their usual funny witty banter. Rose never fails to impress me with her comebacks. I also laughed again when he tells her that he will always find her and that she decides how hard it’s all going to be. Then she comes back with the ‘how does your face feel’ line? I wanted to hit Rose though when he tells Dimitri that she loves Adrian, I honestly thought: Wow way to screw up your chances of getting back together up. Although I understand that she does love him, just not in the same way she loves Dimitri.

Tasha is the murderer! I have to say I never saw that one coming. Who would have thought she would be the one to kill the Queen? For a while there Mead had us all believing that is was Adrian’s mum Daniella and all I could think was ‘no, I hope that’s not true.’ Adrian I don’t think would have been able to handle a blow like that. I did have sympathy for Adrian though, especially at the end. “I loved you and you used me the whole time” was a line from him that really made me feel for him. I wanted to give the guy a hug when he said about how she has everything. She escaped death, the bond, Lissa got to be Queen, she got the guy and she gets a happily ever after. The poor guy, no one likes to come off second best. He was a good guy. He would have done anything for Rose. As he quotes in the beginning: “And there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for you, the stupider the better.” Rose really hurt him, and he didn’t deserve it.

I had previous suspicions that Jill would be the illegitimate child they were searching for. When I re read the VA books after reading Spirit Bound the reference to her green eyes really stood out and I began to wonder. It all makes perfect sense that she would be it.

One thing I was even more shocked with was the bond disappearing. When Rose throws herself in front of that gun (that Tasha is holding) and gets shot, I really thought Lissa would have to heal her. I was surprised and a little sad when Rose awoke and found out that her and Lissa didn’t have their bond anymore. I thought it made them closer and I loved the scenes we got to see through Lissa’s eyes although in a way I’m glad it’s gone. We all watched as the darkness from Lissa pushed Rose towards breaking point. It could only build up for so long and soon enough she snapped. The consequences being Victor dying, although I can’t say I’m disappointed. He wasn’t a very likeable character, he probably didn’t deserve to die the way he did but after what he did to Lissa I guess the saying goes ‘what goes around, comes around.’ I loved the moment before Rose goes unconscious from the shot. “A gun I had been brought down by a gun. It was practically comical. Cheaters, I thought. I’d spent my life focusing on hand to hand combat, learning to dodge fangs and powerful hands that could snap my neck. A gun? It was so… well, easy. Should I be insulted? I didn’t know. Did it matter? I didn’t know that either. All I knew in that moment was that I was going to die, regardless.” Who else would be thinking that when they are in their last few moments? Only Rose would, I’m glad Lissa and Dimitri were there though and that her last thoughts were to them. I’m glad she didn’t die though.

I’m sad that we don’t have another book to look forward to. The ending is perfect though but I can’t help but wish we got to see more about Rose and Dimitri as they get older. Although the ending with her dad and mum made me smile, I would loved to have seen the chat Abe and Janine have with Dimitri, they are both scary in their own ways. “Run,” I said when they were gone. “If you slip out now, maybe they won’t notice. Go back to Siberia.” Another one of my favourite lines. I like how ABe played a bigger role in this book and how Rose does consider him to be her dad, It is really nice for her to know him. I think we can all see where Rose gets her personality from.

hmm. I don't really know what to say about this one. This was a terrible conclusion to the series. I despised both Rose and Dimitri in this one. I hated Rose for what she did to Adrian. She used to be a strong, fierce, witty, defiant heroine, but in this book she turned into a selfish, annoying, immature, self-absorbed character. What a lovely ending to an amazing series. Honestly? I thought i was going to cry or be somehow upset at the fact that Rose's story was over, but actually im feeling kind of happy. I think Richelle did an amazing job with the story line but im sad at how it ended with Adrian. Well, I have had this book since it was released and as much as I wanted to read it, I was putting it off b/c I did not want to see the series end. I have loved reading this series. One of the best out there. Rose is a fantastic character. She has gone through so much and even though she is only 18 she grew as a character. Now does that mean she was mature and well-rounded? NO WAY!! But, that is what I love about her.

Like many others across the globe, I’ve been waiting for the final book in the most outstanding series out there to finally draw in. Not because I wanted it to end (hell no) but because I really wanted to see what would happen to my favourite heroine and her scandalizing friends.

This didn’t disappoint – in fact, it’s one of the best in the series, if not high above the others. In 600 pages, Richelle Mead was able to wrap up my questions, give me some more, make me Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Like many others across the globe, I’ve been waiting for the final book in the most outstanding series out there to finally draw in. Not because I wanted it to end (hell no) but because I really wanted to see what would happen to my favourite heroine and her scandalizing friends.

This didn’t disappoint – in fact, it’s one of the best in the series, if not high above the others. In 600 pages, Richelle Mead was able to wrap up my questions, give me some more, make me tear up and scream, squeal out loud a few times as well as laugh, and stop reading in hopes to preserve this last book. (I was going to stoop to the lows Richelle had brought in with her Georgina series, where the succubus only reads 5 pages per day, but realized that would be totally unrealistic. I settled for 250.) I loved how, from the very first chapter, I got a taste of everything I love in Rose. And I mean everything – from her strength to her inner beauty, to her love for others and fierce protectiveness, her friendship and bizarre daughterly-traits, and of course, her humour.

And really, that’s a lot of what the book was. I’d say about a quarter of it. Rose and her growing, Rose and showing her growth, Rose on showing how she needed to grow to get to the end – I saw it all. The rest of the book was 1) action, 2) plot turns, and (duh) 3, LOTS. OF. ROMANCE. When you can pull off all these, plus some added inspirational speech and great scenes, you know you’ve done something right with a book.

There’s so much to cover in this review because, honestly, tons went on. When I say action, I mean action. And not just combat fighting, either. I mean, we saw flashes of guns, taser-like machinery, and even (wait for it) C4 (if you don’t know what that is, look it up on a military-weaponry website.), sure. But we met many political twists and many jumps and escapes from criminals who should be behind bars. We also snatched a few hillbilly vampires (had to use Rose’s word for that one!), a few marriage proposals, a few horrible dreams and some crazy magic that was running everywhere. The action kept on coming and honestly, although knife-fights and kisses-moved-to-punches could get boring (I don’t know about that last one, though), Rose maneuvers everything in a way that makes it the most enchanting thing in the world.

I mentioned kisses-gone-awry, right? I have to say, those scenes…made my heart break. The romance and the tension that went along with it make some of the strongest (if not the strongest, as I currently can’t find any competitors) romance in YA. The relationship between Rose and Dimitri is so based on utter trust, understanding and faith for each other that I often don’t know who has the better lines, who I love more. Dimitri, as Sonya phrased for us once, is Rose’s perfect other half. I loved how Rose stayed true to herself and knew what would be the best for herself in the end by telling Dimitri what had to happen if they wanted to get together. I adored the role she took as teaching him the ways of his soul and the way she made it clear they were now, above all other times, equal, although she was happy to let him be in charge. I’m also glad Dimitri was honorable enough to deny his feelings for Rose until that last possible moment because of Adrian because, honestly, otherwise I would have thought worse of him. It goes to show you that a real man is one who will only take what he deserves.

I may have said this in the odd conversation, but I really hate Lissa. In this book, THANK GOD, she cleaned up and finally became who I always wanted her to be. Of course, I didn’t appreciate the every-20-pages-interruption of Rose’s life into the Court scene, as I’d very much appreciated staying anywhere close to Dimitri, but hey, you take what you can get. But anyway, Lissa finally became somebody I would be proud to be around. Christian also manned up a bit and became a bit more fitting of his lord title, and I hope now that he’ll be a bit more open to royal life, considering his girlfriend. (NO SPOILERS!)

Okay, you see, I’m already wanting to spill out my guts. I’ll just wrap this up then.

It was a pleasure being in Rose’s world, having the chance to see her grow into the powerful and intelligent and strong woman she finally became. I love every line of hers, every action she’s corrected and everything she’s done for love. I love every journey she’s taken and the final journey she gets to take. I can’t wait until Bloodlines in August, for Sydney’s story (whom I loved in this book!) so I can hopefully take a peek at Guardians Hathaway and Belikov some more.
