A beautifully written novel. The prose was just lyrical I listed to the audio edition of this book narrated by the author.
It is a gut wrenching story of a young girl born into slavery.
What didn’t work for me was the magical realism. I felt is was overdone for me. I am not a fan of magical realism. I would have liked more depth of the characters in the story instead.
