This was a novel concept in the world of Sherlock Holmes books, as it is NOT a retelling!
Instead it assumes Sherlock Holmes and all the mysteries really existed, Watson published everything with the help of his literary agent Arthur Conan Doyle and subsequently everyone involved got very wealthy because of the popularity.
