Far from the best book ever written, but definitely a memorable classic. I can understand both those who love this book and those who hate it.
The Old Man and the Sea is a nice little book about life itself. It's remarkably slow, but that's how it's meant to be. And there are reasons why Hemingway is a legend.

My first Hemingway. Not at all what I thought it would be. Definitely a surprising read. I truly love the detail to which Hemingway describes the old man's surroundings. The rise to the end is very intense.
