4.5 stars -maybe 5 - I'll think about it a little longer. I absolutely love Richard Russo. I think he may have just topped my favorite author list. Bridge of Sighs is the third book of his I have read and I plan on reading Everybody's Fool before the year is out.
Russo is a master at mixing well drawn characters with a great story. He writes about flawed individuals/families in small town America. Bridge of Sighs started slower for me than Empire Falls and Nobody's Fool. It contains more introsp ...more

Ugh, what a slog.
I thought Russo did an excellent job of writing on the whole. I liked the story and the characters. I really enjoyed reading the parts about Lucy, but I found the parts about Noonan uninteresting
