I understand why this book is so popular. It is a great depiction of how difficult navigating the waters of early adulthood can be and how we often make mistakes with the people that mean the most to us. There is also quite a bit about how destructive we can be to ourselves when we buy in to other people's narratives about who we are.

I know that this is called the millenial book, but the things that make it distinct in that way-- reading Marx, not wanting to contribute to a capitalistic society-

This wasn't as good as I thought it would be especially for being Long Listed for the Man Booker Prize. I felt like Marianne was a poorly developed character and would never truly move on from Connell. ...more
