What Members Thought
Written with a detached tone and loaded with every conceivable related fact, this book does an excellent job at informing the reader of the hardships and suffering experienced by Louis Zamperini as a WWII Japanese POW. The amount of time and detail that accompanied his brutal treatment was, at times, too much to bear. I had to deviate from my normal rating criteria to review this book. My normal criteria requires a book merely "entertain" me. This book didn't really entertain me in the sense I normally am looking for. But then again, I'm sure I would have felt a little blasphemous had it truly entertained me. This was a great read for other reasons. My rating criteria is based on "ability to enlighten", "ability to uplift", "educational", "power to move", "riveting". With these criteria, this book gets a 5. I
