Beautifully written for sure, but ludicrously far-fetched. If something is statistically, medically, psychologically or socially improbable, that's the direction Diane Setterfield chooses to take. Margaret unraveled in a way that felt very uncharacteristic, and the budding love-story shoehorned in at the end was completely unnecessary. ...more
