April 2023: Updating my review after re-reading (listening to audiobook). Honestly what a gem. It was a joy to revisit these characters and their world. I think my first time around with this book was a right-book-wrong-time situation, but this was definitely the re-read I needed now.

I. Love. This. Book.
I am broke af, so I usually read books for free through my public library system. When I finished this book I immediately bought myself a copy so I could reread it at my leisure, and lend it to my friends to force them to read it too. I also preordered the next book in the series so I could get it as soon as it comes out.

Loved it! So fun! After all the really dull dead flat characters, it was nice to read a book where characters had different personalities and issues. Liked the meandering nature of the story, although I think the world building meant that there wasn't so much time to make sure the emotional notes were gut-wrenching (if you have 6 or 7 main characters it's hard for one character's sad moment to really make you all that sad) but this was a really great first book, excited to see this author keep o
