“None of the fairy tales I read as a girl had three people.”
“What happens next?"
“What happens next is we all live happily ever after."

Second time around and I still loved it. Only reason I’ve knocked off a star is the single POV, which sometimes results in some long winded inner dialogue.
This book is definitely 🔥🔥🔥

Not what I expected.
I am a fan of Sierra Simone's work but American Queen I would say was kind of a let down sadly. Greer was sweet and innocent all the way through the book, wouldn't speak her mind and let people walk over her. I couldn't connect with the characters all that much either. Plus I felt this was pure insta-love.
Now I will say the storyline was great! It was an interesting plot. Lots of twists I didn't see coming.

I picked this up as part of the 1001 Dark Nights Bundle ten. It had been on my TBR for awhile. In many ways the story is flawed -- the incessant flashbacks breaking up the narrative flow, character inconsistencies including Greer's TSTL decision that ended the book on a cliffhanger. (I hate those). Flaws aside, it is a fascinating read blending glitter fantasy with fairly accurate look at power politics on a national and global level. Ms. Simone does an excellent job establishing a contemporary

Didn't get any connection between the characters. Need more of a storyline. Had potential, and fans of erotica and bdsm mmf may enjoy the sexy times. I just didn't get into it. ...more

Incredible, provocative and raw are the first three words that come to mind when I think of the first book in the American Queen Trilogy by Sierra Simone. This is the story of falling in love in a very unconventional way - rules, social norms and politics will all stand in their way, but some things are worth fighting for.
