Young love…..few forget that moment in youth when you realize you have feelings for someone that is a huge part of your life. For Annalia - living near the Sawyer Farm provided her with so many wonderful memories. Time spent with the Sawyer Twins….Preston and Cole. Even at that early age, Annalia knew deep down in her heart that Preston held a piece of her in his palms.

The friendship that Cole and Preston have with Lia is unique. Knowing that Lia is the daughter of an illegal immigrant, Cole an Young love…..few forget that moment in youth when you realize you have feelings for someone that is a huge part of your life. For Annalia - living near the Sawyer Farm provided her with so many wonderful memories. Time spent with the Sawyer Twins….Preston and Cole. Even at that early age, Annalia knew deep down in her heart that Preston held a piece of her in his palms.

The friendship that Cole and Preston have with Lia is unique. Knowing that Lia is the daughter of an illegal immigrant, Cole and Preston always make sure Lia doesn’t feel remorse for her circumstances. Their protective instinct begin to change into something more as the years pass. That brings on the competitiveness of the twins as well. Even though Preston harbors deeper feelings for Lia than Cole, a ‘deal’ is made that will change the course of the friendship that these three share.

Time will be a wicked host to the triangle that these three are embroiled in. The repercussions will be felt for years to come. A stain on a love that started out so pure. A tragedy that embroils three hearts in a way that none could have predicted.

*Sigh* Knowing my past reading experiences with Mia’s books, I knew the book centered around the Gemini Zodiac sign would be unique. After all, a romance involving twins is sure to be one of those stories that grabs you and squeezes all of the emotion out of your heart. That was the case with Preston’s Honor.

This was a book that had many ups and downs. The characters full of indecisive feelings and emotions. There will be times you wonder why certain paths in life were taken. In other parts of the story - you will feel the pain and heartache that exudes within the pages. It is a culmination of creativity on Mia Sheridan’s part. Every single moment pulling you deeper within this triangle that has so many facets to its tale.

As you begin - you wonder what in the world was Lia thinking. After all…you can’t imagine doing what she did. Or can you? Living a life of poverty, of always feeling ‘less’ than those around you is bound to wear on your personality. Do you really know despair of this magnitude? Not knowing where you next meal will come from, sleeping in a shack, doing jobs that others would deem as ‘beneath them’ just to make ends meet. It’s a type of madness that very few understand. It is part of the cycle of being part of the migrant workforce. It leaves deep scars that take root in your soul in unimaginable ways. I tried to keep this in mind when I wavered in my feelings for Lia’s character.

Then there are the twins. So competitive by nature, but yet one is more reserved than the other. How many times do we see this in real life? Preston’s choices are definitely questionable, but then I remember his struggle with being honorable. The lengths that one travels just to keep a promise can be extreme. In Preston’s case - it cost him a world of time, love, and compassion. An unnecessary quandary when looking from the outside in, but a reality of his depth of character if you imagine him as a dedicated man in real life.

Tragedy shapes us in so many ways. For Preston, Lia, and Cole - life took some unexpected turns. Road blocks that kept them from expressing what it was they desired most in life. As always - Mia Sheridan wrote a touching tale that speaks to the depth of human emotion. The despair that exists when faced with an unimaginable set of circumstances. Lia and Preston’s tale is definitely full of heartache, emotional turmoil, and uncertainty. All of it leads these two soul mates to the reality that is their future. A roller coaster of emotions that will leave you thinking of their journey long after you turn the last page. An endless heartbeat that began when Lia spit that strawberry out, and became a part of the Sawyer Brothers lives from that day forward.

So... I liked this book. I am a huge fan of Mia Sheridan, and I always like the intentions of her love stories, even if some have stuck with me more than others. This one had elements I can really get into in a book, but it also had some situations that were harder for me to swallow.
