Confession #1: I really didn’t know what to expect when I was reading this book. I didn’t bother to read the blurb since all I knew this was a Colleen Hoover book and it must be read. Colleen Hoover is just an instant one-click for me… there is no ifs, ands, or buts.

I have a confession, I'm in awe of Colleen Hoover. Everything she writes is gold. I really don't know how she does it. I've been a fan from the beginning, reading Slammed a few years ago I was blown away by Colleen's ability to suck me into her stories. She hasn't disappointed me yet. I have a confession, I'm in awe of Colleen Hoover. Everything she writes is gold. I really don't know how she does it. I've been a fan from the beginning, reading Slammed a few years ago I was blown away by Colleen's ability to suck me into her stories. She hasn't disappointed me yet. Confess is just as amazing, just as well thought out as her other books. What she may lack in discipline she more than makes up for in her in her plots. I've definitely seen growth in her writing. The more she believes in herself the more we'll see it in her writing. So much untapped potential and I only see great things in her future.

I don't know how to describe Confess. It's so much more than a romance. In real life people come with baggage, they come with secrets, and they come with the willingness to love. Most of the time. Life isn't perfect. We think we know what we're doing but then someone steps into our lives and things...change. We're redirected and turned around, left trying to figure it all out. What's right for us and where are we going?

There are people you meet that you get to know, and then there are people you meet that you already know.

Auburn thinks she knows where her life direction is. She has a goal. There's no room for distractions, namely men. Meeting Owen wasn't planned. This is the beauty in Colleen's writing, she takes us to places we didn't know we needed to go. Pushes her characters outside their own boxes. Owen's art gallery is like him, unique, different, and deeply emotional. He paints peoples confessions. I was intrigued and excited to see how she incorporated them into a story that ends up coming full circle in the most unusual way. The ideas in Colleen's head are masterpieces. The incorporation of art, confessions and the written word, is sublime.

I'm scared I'll never feel this again with anyone else," I whisper. He squeezes my hands. "I'm scared you will."

For once I wish I could read a CoHo book WITHOUT crying. But dang it if she doesn't get me every single time. The prologue geez, my kids were laughing at me when I told them it was the prologue. My teenage daughter snickered. She may as well have pointed and called me a loser. But that prologue yo. Only CoHo.

So get ready to have your world rocked CoHo style. Confess is about love, loss, lies, hurt, friendship, family, forgiveness, and confessions.

I purposely avoided all reviews and discussion groups for Confess so that I could fully enjoy what I knew would be perfection. I was not disappointed and am so grateful I went into this book with open eyes and an open heart. Colleen Hoover has once again knocked it out of the park with a story of two souls destined to be together.

This is new for me.
I have never written a review for a Colleen Hoover book just after finishing it.
I've only ever written one review for a Colleen Hoover book period.
Even though I've read them all. (Sad, but true. It's intimidating, though.)
But this book... I just knew exactly what I wanted to say about it when I finished it.
It didn't require a second read or deep thought and consideration.
It is simply this:

I loved her writing.
I think Colleen could write an instruction manual, and it would still This is new for me.

But this book... I just knew exactly what I wanted to say about it when I finished it.

It is simply this:

I loved her writing.
I think Colleen could write an instruction manual, and it would still speak to my heart with the meaning and emotion behind her words. She's brilliant in this aspect, and her talent continues to shine within the pages of Confess.

I loved her use of figurative language.
I'm a sucker for it, and it seems to flow from her fingertips like blood from the imaginary wound I gave Lydia after Auburn cut that b*tch in my personal, amended version of the book. (I'm not actually a violent person, I swear. It's just a simile.)

I loved that I couldn't guess everything that was going to happen.
One of my husband's biggest complaints about romance (as if he actually reads it and knows) is that it's "so d*mn predictable". It's really hard to tell a NEW story. Because, for the most part, the story you pick has already been told over and over again. Successful writing is about HOW you tell the story. The language you use, the emotions you elicit. Ms. Hoover took an artist/gallery worker romance - which has undoubtedly been told before - and made it deep, daedal, and distinguishable. There were twists and turns, and each character held secrets and surprises you didn't see coming. (Except for Lydia. It was no mystery that she was an evil b*tch. I hated her from the prologue.) She put these two characters, who were impossibly perfect for each other, in impossible situations, while you (the reader) hung on to every word with hope that there was still a sliver of possibility that they might get their HEA. Did this book wreck me? No. Did I shed a million tears? No. Did I shed any tears? No. Did I love it regardless? Absolutely.

If you're looking a book with something different and unique, then you can never go wrong with a book by Colleen Hoover and once again she has delivered to her readers. The artwork incorporated into this novel is beautiful and moving and perfectly correlates with the plot. I love how CoHo took confessions from her readers and embedded them within these finely crafted pages.

I'm not sure what to think, I didnt hate it, far from it, but, I felt like I needed more of an ending, how it ended was good, answered questions, but I wish it was long, the confessions from real readers brought tears to my eyes, the beginning hurt so bad, I'm glad that I read this book and am so glad everyone got a HEA, well almost, everyone :) ...more
