Very good book. Hope Eleanor and Park see each other again in the future. Really hated Richie. Glad the family moved away from him. Really, really good book. Also hope Eleanor is doing okay at her new school.

Esta es una de esas historias que amas y odias a la vez.... la amas porque la forma de narrar es hermosa, sus diálogos son atrapantes, llenos de emoción y no podes dejar de leerlos. Y la odias porque te imaginas como va a terminar y seguís leyendo porque pensas "no, no me van a hacer eso",pero llegas a las últimas páginas y te encontrás con ese final.....

Esta es una de esas historias que amas y odias a la vez.... la amas porque la forma de narrar es hermosa, sus diálogos son atrapantes, llenos de emoción y no podes dejar de leerlos. Y la odias porque te imaginas como va a terminar y seguís leyendo porque pensas "no, no me van a hacer eso",pero llegas a las últimas páginas y te encontrás con ese final.....

Eleanor es pelirroja, algo excedida de peso (según ella) y siente la necesidad de esconderse del mundo, lo que es difícil porque ella tiene luz propia. Park es el chico raro, asiático, que lee comics y escucha música antes de entablar una conversación con alguien, en cierta forma también se esconde porque así lo dejan en paz y nadie lo molesta. En conclusión ambos son muy similares así que tiene sentido que el universo trate de unirlos y se encuentran constantemente a pesar de que ninguno de los dos quiere estar de acuerdo con el universo.

Es el primer amor de los dos y ambos están un poco asustados por la intensidad de sus sentimientos. a esto sumemosle la situación en la familia de Eleanor que era un desastre esperando el momento oportuno para explotar. La historia es hermosa, tierna, conmovedora con diálogos excelente y como la leí en español también hay que agregar que la traducción es muy buena en un castellano neutro que gana muchos puntos en mi ranking.

Viene todo muy bien, muy bonito con referencias a comics y películas que debo admitir que conocía todas... y de repente estalla todo y nos lleva a ese final.... es agridulce y en cierta forma es abierto porque le da la oportunidad al lector de crear "el después" con lo que él quiera y con lo que creo que Eleanor y Park se merecen, puede que no ese momento pero quizás en un futuro.

"You saved me life, she tried to tell him. Not forever, not for good. Probably just temporarily. But you saved my life, and now I'm yours. The me that's me right now is yours. Always.”

Como decía una historia que se ama y se odia a la vez y en mi opinión sólo las/os buenos autores pueden hacer eso y Rainbow Rowell es definitivamente una autora que seguiré leyendo. ...more

This book is one of those books where it kept coming back to haunt me as I have to say I saw it and ummed and aahed as the cover wasn't really appealing to me and I put it back down, then I read some reviews about it and then I saw the release of Fangirl and I was all like, ok - I am going to read Eleanor and Park. This book is so beautiful and so powerful I feel like it has become a tiny part of my soul. In spite of the fact that Eleanor is kind of annoying I LOVED HER CHARACTER SO MUCH and oh my God Park is such a heartthrob!! Read this and your life will never be the same again. Period.

Early in the Novel Park’s English teacher asks him why “Romeo and Juliet” has survived 400 years. With Eleanor looking on, Park says: “Because people want to remember what it’s like to be young? And in love?”

And that's exactly what this book makes you feel... young.. and in Love...

It really was a adorable love story between two star-crossed misfits, Eleanor and Park.

Eleanor is the new girl in town who’s wild looks really gets people to stay away from her. Park is quite a shy guy who is pretty much startled and a bit fascinated with the new girls looks. when everyone on the bus acted pretty much rude to her, Park took pity on her by allowing her to sit near him which was really so sweet of him.At first, they wouldn’t acknowledge each others presence for a few days but they do after Park finds her sneakily reading his comics while he was reading it.

“She was reading his comics.
At first Park thought he was imagining it. He kept getting this feeling that she was looking at him, but whenever he looked over at her, her face was down.
He finally realized that she was staring at his lap. Not in a gross way. She was looking at his comics – he could see her eyes moving.
And she was looking at his comics.
Park felt like he should say something to her. He always felt like he should say something to her, even if it was just ‘hello’ or ‘excuse me.’ But he’d gone too long without saying anything since the first time he’d cursed at her, and now it was all just irrevocably weird. For an hour a day. Thirty minutes on the way to school, thirty minutes back.
Park didn’t say anything. He just held his comics open wider and turned the pages more slowly.“

He lends his comics to Eleanor so she can return it later after she finished reading it.From comics to music their relationship slowly develops to whispering conversations, holding hands and much more.

Eleanor may look like a tough cookie but she was totally fragile from the inside.Her life was really dreadful that made me feel so sad for her. I was totally disgusted with her Step-dad I think she has done the right thing by getting far away from that monster.Park is a kind of guy that you would definitely love because he likes Eleanor for who she is regardless of how she looks, protects her from the bullies and also wears make-up to the school just for her(Can’t believe he really did that) which was really aww-worthy. I think they really are adorable and made for each other couple.As for the supporting characters, at start I loved Park’s mom but later she acted a bit racist which eventually made her lose some brownie points.His dad is also pretty much likable character.Park’s happy family is perfect opposite to Eleanor’s where her mother is totally dependent on her step-dad and she really cares for Eleanor’s well-being but she wouldn’t do much in protecting her.Another best thing in this book is that there isn’t insta-love in it which I’m so glad about it because I like having characters getting their relationship grow slowly which I think the author did a great job in portraying it.

Basically I don’t like slow paced plots but it’s really surprising that I’ve really liked this book.The plot was well-written with two adorable characters.I must stop using the word “ADORABLE” but I couldn’t help myself.Even writing this review has put a smile on my face.The Author’s writing style was really enchanting.The Ending might have shattered so many people’s heart but I’m totally good with it at-least it wasn’t a cliffhanger.Now I’m really excited to read Miss Rowell’s other works too.I’d highly recommend this to book lovers who are into adorably cute and romantic reads. ...more

Hmmmm....book...how to rate you how to rate you...Okay I think I have my thoughts gathered...ish!!! Let's give this one 3.8 stars!!! This is a love/dislike relationship for me! I see the appeal of this book and why so many people are raving about it! I too was engrossed by some of the passages. The romance is it was quite sweet and endearing. I know this book is on everyone's radar right now. It seems everyone is reading it. Insane how popular it's gotten all of a sudden--like Hunger Games explosion style.

I thought I would like this book more, since it's contemporary ya. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't fall madly in love with it like everyone else. I'm due for one of those reading experiences, but this one wasn't quite there.

The plot was alright, if a little slow. It just didn't go as deep as I would have liked. Al 3.5 stars

The plot was alright, if a little slow. It just didn't go as deep as I would have liked. Also, becuse of the cover and synopsis, I thought there would be more 80s music themes in it. The journey was slow, but it progressed quickly enough that I was never bored, just a bit antsy for things to pick up. I loved how the relationship progressed at such a slow, natural rate. It was a sweet romance, nothing shocking or disturbing (between the two title characters), no one emotionally scarring or controlling the other, although Eleanor was manipulative through her constant need for drama and to be consoled. More on that below. Overall, I liked the realistic, teenage progression of their relationship.

On to the characters, since that's what this novel is all about. Park--wow. I fell madly, completely in love with his character. More accurately, I remember falling madly in love with a real person who was EXACTLY like his character, right down to his collection of comics and The Smiths cassettes. Maybe that's why I liked this character so much--he was as real to me as a real person. He was so completely honest/confused/flawed/good intentioned. Eleanor--well. Here's where the problem came in for me. It wasn't that I hated her character. She was sympathetic, and I felt sorry for her as her home life was so awful. But she seemed a little lacking in depth somehow. She just never came alive for me the way Park did, so that next to him, she felt a bit flat. Also, she was a very obnoxious character to read about. Realistic, yes, we all know that girl who can't stop causing drama and intentionally misunderstanding every little nit-picky thing a guy says so she can pick a fight. But I hate those people in real life, and it was hard to LIKE her as opposed to just pitying her.

The ending--everyone has focused on that for some reason, but it didn't bother me. I thought it was very realistic, and that's what I was looking for. I didn't mind not knowing the three words, as I came up with several things they could say and was happy with that. ...more

i Need a Sequal That Ending Broke Me. I loved this book ok some parts are problamatic.for me and some issues could of been explored more. but at the end of the day its about two teens who fall in love who spend most of the book in a bubble like teens do when they first meet someone i loved Elanor and the refrences to music and comics but i am a geek at heart. great book deffiantly worth a reread and a sequal.
