This has become one of my favourite books.
Even though I haven't slept much this week and was planning on finally getting a reasonable amount of sleep (at least enough to function properly) but no, I was so caught up that I finally went to sleep at 6am, knowing that I'd have just enough time to finish it in the morning before going skiing.
And even now I'm still obsessing over it, trying to find out on my goddamn phone when the sequel's coming out. While I'm in the car.

I know I shouldn’t have liked this book. Is it so wrong of me to like the train wreck that is the messed up lives of these characters? Oh My Goodness. It was like coming upon an accident on the highway and slowing down to watch. I’m cringing here, not wanting to like it because there are so many things that are wrong with these characters, yet I couldn’t put this down. I rang in the New Year with this book. Stayed up until 3:15 a.m. reading it. Uggh, I’m hopeless.

Where to even begin with this one. Yes, I admit it…I liked this book. There, I’ve said it. I’m a sucker for flawed characters and I got it with this one. Maybe they were a little too flawed. I don’t know, but it intrigued me. The Kade brothers are the boys you know you shouldn’t want but you’re helpless to fight the feeling. Logan is a big time player and I don’t just mean football, if you know what I’m saying. There is a cruelty to his character but also a loyalty to his inner circle. Mason is not so much a player but still the unattainable guy. He is the observant one. He also has a cruel streak. Nate is the friend/sidekick to Logan and Mason. Sam is the girl who ends up in the world of the Kade brothers because of her mother’s choices. Sam closes off her emotions so she doesn’t have to care. She is her own person and she is brutally honest. There are other characters that help move this story along and are just as messed up as the others. The adults in this book are whack-a-dos. I have never seen so much cheating going on. As I’m reading this book I couldn’t believe some of the things I was reading. There is one scene with Logan, Mason, Sam, Nate, and Sam’s mom. It is kind of confrontational. It was an OMG, did that just happen moment. Truly that was a new level of cruel. As twisted as it was it was the best scene. If you ever watched the movie Cruel Intentions then you can picture the kind of dark cruelty that this book portrays. The story lines are not similar just the feel of it.

Normally, I wouldn’t have liked this book but it captivated me. It put a lot out there and it just had a dark quality to it. I got hooked. The writing was superb. The story moved along nicely. There were no slow moments. Every page had something worthwhile on it. The characters were well developed. I only questioned one character and that was David, Sam’s “dad”. He seemed to be standoffish with Sam at times then later he was being portrayed as someone who always wanted her with him. It didn’t add up for me. If you can get past the cheating, lack of morals, and the craziness of some of the characters then you might give it a try. In my opinion, those things are what made this book so alluring. I think this is going to be one of my guilty pleasures. Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone.

i loved this book!!
yes its a bit dramatic and a cliche but the characters accept it and by god that's best thing that i have seen so far done by the characters.
they are unashamed and do not regret anything they abide by.
The setting is a typical high school teenage drama with the parents cheating on each other etc.
There are secrets and then there are rumors so you see, routine.

I just re-read this book and it's still just as great as the first time. Samantha Strattan's life is turned upside down when she comes home from school one day to find her mother packing and them moving out from living with her father to live with her new boyfriend. They move into
the mansion that James Kade owns and live with Mason and Logan Kade. Mason and Logan are extremely popular, all girls want to be with them and most guys want to be them. Sam doesn't really care what others think of her I just re-read this book and it's still just as great as the first time. Samantha Strattan's life is turned upside down when she comes home from school one day to find her mother packing and them moving out from living with her father to live with her new boyfriend. They move into
the mansion that James Kade owns and live with Mason and Logan Kade. Mason and Logan are extremely popular, all girls want to be with them and most guys want to be them. Sam doesn't really care what others think of her and she runs so much to numb herself to her life. She dated Jeff for 3 years and then finds out that he'd been cheating on her with her supposed best friend Jessica for 2 years and their other best friend Lydia knew all about it. Most girls and people would love the connection they have with the Kade guys but Sam keeps that to herself and doesn't try to use them or pay attention to them.

Sam's mother Analise is somewhat crazy and pretty self absorbed. She'd been cheating with James Kade for awhile. She also did her best to keep David away from Sam. David raised Sam all her life and she didn't know he wasn't her biological father. He's the coach for the football team at Fallen Crest Academy and he didn't make enough money for Analise. Sam and Mason are pretty much made for one another. Logan is the player and he hooks up all the time but Mason doesn't hook up very often. He cares about her and he likes that she's loyal and she doesn't share her personal stuff with many people.

Mason grew up with rich parents and a father that cheated on his wife and hooks up and such. He loves his father but doesn't really respect him. Mason and Logan are extremely close and they keep to themselves most of the time except when Nate's in town. Mason is especially talented football player and most people know he's going to most likely go Pro. He's learned to not trust many people. He can't stop himself from caring about Sam and wanting to be with her. He will do anything for the people that he loves.

Definitely worth reading and reading the rest of the series. ...more

Oh my holy wow! Read this in one day! What a roller coaster ride! LOVED Mason and Sam. The unresolved sexual tension is brought on strong in the beginning and continues throughout the book! The adults in this book need some serious therapy lol! LOVED how the the bond between Logan, Mason and Samantha grows in the midst of all the chaos and deception that surrounds them! CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES!!
