Madge
Review originally published on my blog

I received a free copy to review from Net Galley

Olly and Madeline (”Maddy”) were great and so realistic. Actually, all the characters were so well written (and there was some diversity, yay!), it was easy to forget they weren’t actual people while I was reading this. Maddy had lived such a sheltered life, but she was definitely not boring. She was creative, smart, brave, and I really liked her. I loved seeing close relationships between her and her mother, a

A very quick read, but a story with a surprising amount of depth. Girl raised in a bubble finds everything she ever wanted in boy next door - only he might as well have been on the moon.

Told in short chapters, instant messages, emails this is the sort of book you can get through very rapidly. I'd only meant to glance at this book, but couldn't put it down so I'm glad it moved so quickly or I would have been up much later than intended. Surprising conclusion with my only complaint is that the end

I loved this story. I knew the twist already, but it was still fantastic.

I was expecting a lot more from this. The drawings were irrelevant. The storyline was too rushed, particularly the relationship between Olly and Maddy. I liked Olly’s personality, Maddy’s innocence, and the chemistry between them. But I felt like the author didn’t allow them to really get to know one another before they fell head over heels. And although I didn’t see the twist coming, it did little to add to the story.

I'm not a teen so don't know how it would appeal to a younger audience. I frequently read young adult novels and find them to have better content. This story is about a young girl who has SCID and is confined to her room/house for all of her life. We join her at the age of 17. The book deals with secrets and lies. The author focuses on what is living. ...more

This is such a good story about the lengths a mother will go to in order to protect her child even when children don't always want or need that protection. Also a love story between a teen girl who is so ill she has spent most of her life in a vacuum sealed house with only her mother and her caregiver and tutors and the new neighbor. ...more

I enjoyed this book so much. I guessed the outcome pretty early on, but the story had me consumed I had to finish quickly.

I enjoyed reading this YA romance. The plot twist was a bit shocking. It came out of nowhere.
