So, I'm writing this review with slightly swollen eyes... Yes, I've shed lots of tears for this story - in fact, I came very close to sobbing out loud...
Just after the first chapter, I really wasn't sure if I was in the mood to read this type of story. A story, that is, guaranteed to be full of pain but hopefully with a hopeful conclusion. So, I looked around a bit more about what others say and one said, it gets better in the second half.

The other followed a dream and travelled the world to become a famous photojournalist. When their father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their ...more

The ending raised the book's rating for me. It took nearly 2/3 of the book for the book to be interesting and even then it kept alternating between slow and boring and mildly interesting. Most of the book, I debated whether to continue reading it or marking it s a DNF. Overall, I am thinking this book should be a 2.5 and because of the last few chapter, I'll raise it to a 3 on Goodreads I loved Firefly Lane and think I'll hold off on The Nightingale until the hype wares down.
