This was a charming read. We first meet Josey, a 27-year-old woman who has kind of been caught in the past in her hometown, taking care of her mother. She has no life of her own, and her mother prefers it that way, expecting her to be on call at all times, even though she has a housekeeper who also helps out. I thought almost the whole time reading this is was going to be a 3 star book for me....but then it just went downhill really fast. I enjoyed the little bits of magical realism that SAA always throws in, but there was a lot of other unnecessary stuff that was also thrown in.....I am not so sure she is still the author for me. I am happy to finally have this off my shelf though, it's been sitting there for a long time. ...more
