wow. wow. when i started this book, I really did not like it. it was so slow. after the first part though...omg. i love it now. these last 200 pages blew by me. the amount of times I had to stop and literally say "OH MY GOD" to myself was a lot!!! i love you cal, I love you lee, I love you abra. if I ever get another cat I would totally name her cal or lee or abra. or even samuel tbh. adam u kinda suck but 𝒯𝐼𝑀𝒮𝐻𝐸𝐿 or whatever. I'm being completely honest when I say that this is my favorite classic. I've never read a book that has twisted my heart in so many directions, while also having a stead-fast plot and the lesson of a lifetime. Did I not want to read it because it was John Steinbeck, 602 pages, and I thought Of Mice and Men was just ok? Yes. Did I also not want to read this book because classics aren't my thing? Also yes. I am emotionally unwell. I seriously thought I was not gonna like this book at all cause well John Steinbeck but I, unfortunately, love it. I'm not gonna lie it was a struggle to get through the first half, even with all the random trauma and concerning references thrown into the mix. Without a doubt, the highlight of the whole book is Cal, Abra, and Lee. I will accept no other answers. Even though they don't appear well in to the book, they absolutely stole the show.
