I liked that during the course of the book Evelyn did admit her faults admit that she was in the wrong on a lot of things. I feel like the relationship between her and Celia was not the greatest. I could tell they loved each other greatly but I didn’t really like how Celia left every time Evelyn did something wrong. I mean I understand her being upset at Evelyn for getting pregnant from a hook up. But the hook up was for a r This was a really good book. It has so many roller coasters of emotion. And I understand that Celia was upset about it but at least she could’ve done was was to stay and talk with Evelyn about it instead of just up and leaving. And when it came to what happened between and Evelyn and Don in the one movie they did together I was upset at Evelyn for saying yes when she should’ve talked with her girlfriend about it first. But I also understand where Evelyn was coming from from doing it. again why Celia left but like maybe Celia should’ve stayed so that they could talk about. Most of there problems could’ve been solved by them just them talking Instead of leaving each other not talking for years. That was one of the red flags of there relationship, there lack of communication. But other than that I really liked the book. I like the LGBTQ representation. I love the writing. I love the twists and turns that happened. I loved how it flipped between Evelyns past and the present and not just talk about Evelyn but also talked about Monique and her issues and what she was dealing with in her life and how Evelyn made a huge impact on her and her choices. And I like that Evelyn admitted to her fault of in a way framing Monique‘s dad‘s death and understanding and knowing that Monique would be upset and angry at her about it instead of waving it off and saying that it wasn’t a big deal. I also really like how Harry treated Evelyn and how when Evelyn and Harry had a kid Harry actually took care of Connor and was so much like a dad and Evelyn was so much like a mom ...more

evelyn hugo was such an interesting character to read about; i have to admit that i wasn’t that excited about reading it because i didn’t know how interesting i’d find it reading about her seven marriages. this book is so much more than just her marriages.

was bit scared to read this one bc of the INSANE amount of hype that booktok gave it... and we all know how I don't always like booktok :/

But.

This was good. In fact, it was good with a capital g. This was good Good. Like... the movie star/film aesthetic?... the issues tackled in this book?... the language?... yeah.

In conclusion? Adding one more to the list of Taylors I have no choice but to stan. ...more
