to be honest, i wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. i’m not a huge fantasy reader - and this was definitely an epic fantasy.

• hunger games type of trials
• slow burn (the book was so interesting and fast paced that i didn't feel it)
• forced proximity
• strong fmc
• complicated father and daughter relationship like Jude and Madoc
• she's looked down to because she's human

Omfg THAT ENDING 😱 I was screaming and went through feeling every single emotion possible. I really didn’t think this was gonna be a 5 star read because I was confused about the magic system in the beginning, but THAT ENDING. Now I understand everything and this was perfect to me. It had vampires, trials, tension, banter, steamy romance, and intense fighting scenes. I don’t want to give too much away but I have a feeling book 2 is going to be INCREDIBLE based off the way this one ends.

unique, showstopping, stunning, immaculate, perfection, amazing, incredible and intense are some words to describe this book. this book deserves the hype it’s been getting because holy-

as soon as i started reading this book i was captivated and i swear i read +200 pages a day just because this book kept me on my toes and i could not stop reading. the only way to explain this book is the fantasy version of the hunger games but with vampires 🙌🏼
