reread this a few months after the first time, and i feel like my standards has risen a bit. it’s still a great book, i just feel like the plot and intrigues are bit childish. i knew what was expected, so it might also be that. nonetheless, i devoured this book in my usual fashion.
here is my initial review, if anyone cares:
i loved it. absolutely devoured it as soon as i started reading it. i didn’t go in with a lot of expectations and i feel like that’s why it wasn’t disappointing to me.

I think going into this book knowing not to expect a bunch of romance helped me to appreciate it more. I’ve read plenty of fae, fantasy books but this one was the only one where every detail of the fae world felt magical. There’s so many beautiful descriptions for characters and surroundings and everything feels genuine to this series. So many books plagiarize off of acotar but this series feels completely different and unique.

jude is a badassss. the pacing of this book was a little too slow for me, but come paga 200 ish it really picked up and i got invested. i really liked that politics was the main focus of this book which in interesting in YA and the little glimpses of a romance (cos really there wasn’t any to call this book a romance) of cardan and jude. i’m excited for book two
