What Members Thought
This was my first Holly Black book but for sure won't be the last; she has a new fan in me. I love how all the politics played out in this one. I love that Jude is morally grey and more anti-hero than hero. I love the love/hate relationships and how no one is who you think they are from the beginning. Black's writing seems simple, yet there is so much undertone here and so many things that are foreshadowed and you get to them and are still surprised by the twists. I want to re-read this already

I think it has been a while since I've read (and enjoyed) a YA fantasy novel. I heard good things about this book, so I was eager to read it. I found the story intriguing and gripping. The characters were unique and I liked the twist ending. There were a couple content issues I had with the books that kept it from a 5 star rating. Looking forward to reading the next one (hopefully) soon.

This kept me interested all the way through, but I'm not 100% sure I liked it - how strange I know! I guess I didn't really love any of the characters, but I appreciated their struggles, and I really liked the world building. I guess I MUST have liked the book, because I'm definitely planning on reading the next one.

I think I fall in the category of people who don't really get the hype about this book. I'm probably not the target audience as it read like a middle grade for 80% of the book.

Well that escalated quickly
as someone who has a difficult relationship with fantasy books i really enjoyed this although i think the fact i listened to the audiobook helped me a lot. honestly, don't know how i feel about jude and cardan but i want to know more so will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
