Let’s talk about this absolutely wonderful book!!

Alright! Red, White, and Royal Blue is basically an alternate universe where the Royal family of England is completely different with Prince Henry rather than Prince Harry, Prince Philip (HRH Heir of Douchiness and Prejudice) rather than Prince William and their sister, Princess Beatrice. In this AU, the 2016 Presidential election in the United States was not won by Donald Trump, but by a sassy southern Democrat FEMALE CANDIDATE from Texas (Ellen Claremont). So enters the Claremont-Diaz’s as the first family. We have the lovely June as older sister/first daughter/fashion icon and Alex as younger first son/aspiring politician/public enemy #1 of the Royal Family/antagonizer of Prince Henry. Alex’s vendetta against the Prince of England comes to a crescendo when the pair are forced to become friends after a monstrous PR nightmare that almost caused an all out media storm/war with Britain. So naturally the boys are forced to play diplomat. Slowly they start to realize they actually really enjoy each other’s company and even more…. International Relations at its finest baby, iykyk😉.

Now, let me just say, I am a very political person and as such I thoroughly enjoyed those themes throughout this book! Aside from that, there was so much to adore about Red, White, and Royal Blue. I think it was just refreshing to see such strong male characters that were beautifully written and not toxic in their masculinity. And SO funny, might I add. I really feel like Alex and Henry are two are my favorite characters ever, not just because of their personalities but also because of how much I loved and envy their relationship. I loved the fact that they had fun together, made fun of each other and loved each other so deeply. I loved that Henry was so much more than the stoic golden prince and had some sustenance I him. SOME OF HIS DECISIONS MADE ME WANT TO RIP MY HAIR OUT, but nevertheless. Alex is such an iconic character to me. Hispanic, gay, and so damn funny. I SNORTED at the part where Alex beautifies Mitch McConnell’s sign into “Bitch McConnell” and runs away laughing, dignified as the fine first son that he is. I laughed, cried, internally screamed, and felt ALL the emotions throughout this book and I’m much better for it.

I really don’t have a lot of qualms other than the fact that not everyone would enjoy the political aspects of the book (or agree with them for that matter) but that’s all in the nature of fiction. To each their own. I also think that Rafael Luna could’ve been a MUCH bigger character and I do not think he was given proper literary justice as a powerhouse, openly gay and Hispanic senator. I also wish that Ellen Claremont could’ve been written as a more “there” mother (not that she didn’t fight tooth and nail for her children, because hell yeah she did) because as an optimist, I’d like to believe that even Presidents and breakers of the glass ceiling can be involved parents.

Anyway! I could go on and on about everything I adored about this book but we would be here forever. If you’re looking for a wonderfully hilarious modern love story to get you out of a slump and transport you to a world where THE Alex Claremont-Diaz is real and Prince Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor watches the Great British Baking Show with him then this is the book for you.

I have officially fallen in love with this book. It has romance, it has drama, rivals to lovers, LGBT and this is basically anything I would ask for. Go buy it, it's seriously worth it.

Basically the story is that Alex, the son of the president of US and Henry, the Prince of Wales are enemies. They have to pretend they are friends and somehow they end up in a secret romance.

This book was definitely one of my favorite reads. I loved all the characters and the writing was good. There wasn’t that much smut but there were sweet chapters that showed how much they adored each other. At times it was hard for me to read but that’s just because I don’t necessarily understand politics. I would 100% recommend it to read ❤️

This was such a wholesome story, aghhh. I was rooting for them from the beginning, and I ship them so, so much!! Honestly, I've never read any romance like this before, and when I was reading this, I realised how much I'm missing out haha. Unlike the cliche straight romances where the guy is always too overprotective and they face cliche romance problems, this was like a breath of fresh air where there weren't as many of those 'jealousy' cliches which always make me roll my eyes. Full of fluff and very unrealistic politics, read this because of the movie and the fact that I had a plane ride. It definitely did exactly what it needed to in terms of being light and easy to read! Enjoyed it a lot, 3.5
