i got so emotionally attached, it’s not even funny. i’m talking ALL the feels. i cried more for this book than the entirety of the shadow and bone trilogy. the characters and the writing are a huge step up from shadow and bone, which was a relief. i found it hard to get into, but once you’re in, you’re IN. it was fast paced, and i adored every single character, but also where’s the mf wylan pov. i feel like leigh did a good job with not making token poc characters or token lgbtq characters and i ...more

Two Very Important Things We Must Understand Before Proceeding

1) I need the next book. And by need, I mean now. But I'm ranting here so maybe give me twenty minutes.

2) This book has no right to be classified as "Romance." 500 pages of me waiting for some sort of kiss, some sort of romance and I got nothing. Nope, Nada, Not going to happen Chloe. i just realised i haven’t shelved this but anyway,

tbh it wasn’t my type of book but its still a good book. i appreciated mainly 2 things:

1) world buulding- the world building was immaculate and very thorough. it’s so complex you feel like your actually there, although in the beginning the names are hard to grasp

2) the originality. my fav thing about this book is the originality and the twist on some tropes. it wasn’t the usual YA storyline i’ve become familiar with, which ig is the reason it has ...more

“No Mourners. No Funerals.” This book was absolutely amazing! Inej and Nina were my favorites however all the characters were great. It’s 1am and I’m super tired lol so my review isn’t the best but I had the day off and was gonna take advantage of that to get this book finished. I absolutely cannot wait to read the sequel! I just love this book too much for a review to do it justice.
But I have to write something about Inej, or I might just explode very messily over my computer.
She’s such a perfect female role model. Fierce, determined, skilled. And yet, through all of that fire, she’s still kind. That’s what really makes her character unique — she’s a nice person, despite her thirst for revenge. Nice wasn’t a thing in the Dregs before her (sorry, Kaz).
