Although I liked The Hate You Give more, Thomas once again knows how to present issues in a new light - she tests my preconceived notions and like with her previous novel, I walk away with a more informed idea about the issues tackled (such as in this novel: racial profiling, gangs, poverty, rap music).

I actually liked this better than The Hate U Give. It had more suspense for me. Having said that, I'd like another book that's just about Jay and Pooh. ...more

Really nice follow up to THUG. The characters were really well-developed and left me wanting to learn more about some of the supporting roles. Great read.

Angie Thomas again takes us into a part of our world that many of us (not POC) are unfamiliar with, and allows us to experience the struggles, injustice, celebrations, heartbreak, and humanity within. Another powerful read!
