3.5’tan 4 verdim desem daha doğru olur.

Kötü bir hikaye değil oldukça da akıcı aslında fakat daha önce filmini izlediğim için mi yoksa kitaba kült/dönem kitabı deyip de çok övdükleri için mi bilemiyorum beklediğim tadı alamadım. Yani bence edebi bir yanı yok, dönemi anlatışı oldukça kısıtlı ve başarısız. Evet, “amerikan rüyası”nın yozlaşmaya yol açması temasını anlıyorsunuz fakat o kadar güzel dönem kitapları okudum ki Muhteşem Gatsby maalesef yetersiz kaldı. This is a reread for me but I remember almost nothing about the first time I read it in 2016, perhaps I was too young then to appreciate it. I do think this is a great story and I enjoyed the writing style. It is a heartbreaking story really about someone being so caught up in the past and about people failing to show up when it really matters. Interesting. But, at the same time, I don't think any of the characters were fleshed out, other than Gatsby, maybe that was on purpose? I'm glad that I r ...more

Una auténtica obra maestra!

Fitzgerald consigue crear a un personaje magnifico, complejo, humano, humilde y con una capacidad para la esperanza extraordinaria. Jay Gatsby es, sin duda, uno de mejores personajes jamás creados. Toda su vida lucha por conseguir lo que quiere, crea en su mente la vida que quiere tener, y cuando cree conseguirlo todo, se le escapa entre los dedos. Un final trágico que realza, si cabe aún más, su maravillosa personalidad y su lucha incesante.

There are some beautiful quotes in this, but it just wasn't for me really. I can see why it is so loved, but I found it to wind on for a little too long. ...more
