If you think chemistry is interesting, you will probably like this book. I wish I could have read it as a teenager.

Was Oliver Sacks really as precocious as the boy he remembers in Uncle Tungsten? Given his huge extended family of scientifically inclined professionals, it's entirely possible. In this memoir Sacks intertwines his own adventures in chemistry with anecdotes of science history and tales of quite an interesting array of family members. It happily conveys the joys and wonders of science, making me just a wee bit jealous of those halcyon days of discovery. ...more

A great book chronicling the development of chemistry through the lens of a young precocious boy. My only serious complaint about the book is the excessive footnotes. I hate feeling like I am reading two books at once, every other page.
