“Life is made of so many moments that mean nothing. Then one day, a single moment comes along to define every second that comes after. Such moments are tests of courage, of strength.”

-Mention of some of these in the review-

An Ember in the Ashes is a very popular YA book series. I wanted to read it because of the hype, and though the book did not disappoint, I was not blown away either.

The plot

Laia lives with her grandparents and older

“There are two kinds of guilt. The kind that's a burden and the kind that gives you purpose. Let your guilt be your fuel. Let it remind you of who you want to be. Draw a line in your mind. Never cross it again. You have a soul. It's damaged but it's there. Don't let them take it from you.”

“Fear can be good, Laia. It can keep you alive. But don't let it control you. Don't let it sow doubts within you. When the fear takes over, use the only thing more powerful, more indestructible to fight it:

OMG! I honestly did not expect this book to be so good. I had seen so many conflicting reviews for this series, that I didn’t know whether I would like it or not. But I loved it.

Now, this would have been a five-star book if not for the romance. Don’t get me wrong, I love Elias and Laia. They’re the best ship ever. But did they really have to have the insta love? And the love triangle? This book had two! I can hardly digest one triangle, imagine two!

I liked this book more than when I read it the first time so I am changing my rating to a 4.5 stars. Closer to a 5 than a 4 though.

OH MY GOD. Yep, that's about it.

This book was everything. The characters were very easy to understand and nothing was too complex that I felt out of my element. The writing was exquisite and the plot stole my breath away on multiple occasions. I need the next 3 but sadly I shall have to wait for those. Of course, I start myself on a new series instead of finishing my ever-growing TBR. Honestly, that's every reader. I really can't find it in me to be mad I put this at the top of my list.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL! This book! Lord, wow, where to start? This is definitely one of my favourite books of 2020 and one of the best books I’ve read in a good few months. I am confident it deserves every single one of those stars. The care that went into the editing and redrafting of this book is impeccable! I love the duel POV. I usually prefer single POV books because I find that multiple POVs can end up getting frustrating, especially if there’s too many. However, this was the perfect amount ...more

This was a buddy read with Nworthia!! Thanks for reading this with me!

I really liked this book!

I loved all of the characters and the weird thing is that I ship almost all of them together. I ship:
Elias and Helene
Laia and Elias
Laia and Keenan
This had never happened before.

My favorite character would probably be Helene. I've heard that second book has her POV and I AM EXCITED.

At times it felt like this book had too little dialogue and way too much narration but I guess it's okay because it was the
