Introduction- The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a sad/dark fiction survival story, and it focuses on a man and his son after the end of the world. They are walking trying to find other signs of life but they don't know who or what they will come across as they walk down the road.

Body Paragraph 1- The two main characters in this book do not have names, they are just known as man and child. The man is the narrator in the story , and he is the one that gives the reader the information about before the Introduction- The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a sad/dark fiction survival story, and it focuses on a man and his son after the end of the world. They are walking trying to find other signs of life but they don't know who or what they will come across as they walk down the road.

Body Paragraph 1- The two main characters in this book do not have names, they are just known as man and child. The man is the narrator in the story , and he is the one that gives the reader the information about before the end of the world and after it. The man is trying to explain what is going on and what they have to go through every day to try and keep himself and his son alive.

Body Paragraph 2- Cormac McCarthy uses imagery and symbolism to strengthen the story and to try and show what the man and the boy are seeing and going through. Everywhere McCarthy uses imagery to describe how plain and gray everything is. Usually things that are black, dark are bad (like cannibals or dead people). While things that are light or white (the boy) or things that are light are generally good things. The boy symbolizes the 'good,' innocence and love that is still in the world. There is also a common reference to "carrying the fire" which is like carrying on the human race, symbolic of love, compassion, "good." The gun is symbolic of death, evil destruction and it is the only thing they own after the end of the world.

Body Paragraph 3- The format of the book was sort of weird but I got used to it fairly quick. Each page was full of suspense and loaded with questions about what is going on. I was very interested in the plot of the story even though it was a mostly sad and dark story. The only disappointment I had in the story was that the characters were hard to tell apart sometimes because none of them had names. Also I didn't like how the book ended because there was so much suspense in the end, but then the book just ends without answering some important questions.

Conclusion- If you enjoy dark, sad, and suspenseful books that will always make you want to read another page, The Road is for you. If you are looking for a Disney channel ending then this book is not for you. ...more

Great Book! Post-Apocalyptic story of a father and son, who struggle to live in the waste land that once was. I'd recommend to people who enjoy a good story, it is a true survival story. Quick read and easy to get lost in. A+++ ...more
