In Trial Run, we get a quick visit into the world of Namid, one of S Lynn Helton’s recurring characters in the Wild Heritance line of books. This short novella is Namid’s entrance exam for joining the Shadowers (a nefarious (until you know them) guild of thieves). Not the nicest way to make a living, she would agree, but it beats the alternatives available to her.

I'm not usually a big fan of short stories, but having read Books 1 & 2 of Wild Inhertance and being something of a completist, I decided to give this a go.
This is how you write a short story. It's got pace, it has a single, clear plotline and an engaging MC.
