I understand it, guys. No wonder I’ve been hearing about this book and seeing it on the shelves of the Indie bookstores!!! I REALLY enjoyed this read!

Told in dueling timelines, the novel focuses on an apothecary in 1791 London. By all accounts, she’s a feminist healer (killer?!?). Her life’s work is to protect and nurture the women around her, even if that means providing them the tinctures and poisons meant to kill their oppressors.

3.5 stars rounded down due to every female character's obsession with pregnancy (either having babies or not having babies). We think about other things, folks!

Also rounded down because I couldn't stand the modern day narrative from whatserface. 2 stars for her story, 5+ stars for the 1800s narrative. I wish the entire story would have been about the late 1800s poisonous apothecary and weird 12-year-old. No need to make sense of it in modern day from a crappy character. Just hang out in the 1800

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book! Enhanced by the audio of 3 separate women for the 3 separate points of view. Fun, mysterious, engrossing, all of the above!
