What Members Thought
Engaging read set primarily in present-day with a nod to past generations and the decisions each matriarch made to provide a better future for her daughter
I especially enjoyed the chapters set in the past which highlighted Maria Isabel in 1866 Cuba and Delores in 1959 Cuba. Both settings exposed pieces of history I was not as familiar with. The present-day storylines of addiction and immigration are believable and with a ripped-from-the-headlines sense of urgency.
