This was the type of book where you wanted to get home so you could keep reading. In the beginning I felt heartbroken for Kya, but as I kept reading I realized there was so much more to her story. She is a character of survival but also of romance, art, and science. I’m excited for the movie. One of my favorite books for sure.
A nature lover, I feel in love with Ms. Owens sensory descriptions of the marsh and the beautiful plants and animals that lived there. My heart could identify with Kya as a teenager falling in love.
