This is one of the best alternate history novels I've read. It deals with silenced voices of the past, in particular the voices of women. It's also a feminist quest story - something that resonated deeply with me. In this story, Jesus has a wife, and her name is Ana. She has a brilliant mind and longing to have her voice heard and remembered. Ana narrates her own story, and it's a powerful and richly imagined one. ...more
