I'll admit it. I kind of cheated with this book. Before I read it, I read some of the reviews that have been posted on Goodreads (something I try to avoid to keep my opinion from being influenced) and I was really prepared to not like the book based on what I had read. However, that is not the case.

When I picked up this book, I had a completely different expectation: more of a traditional trajectory of someone becoming a chef, heavily shared with details from travels that influenced her culinary style. But instead I read a book about someone who's been lost since the moment her parents divorced, figuring out her life and in the process, managed to open her own restaurant and become a popular chef and food writer on the way.
