My profile name is Zizz. I am barely over 5 feet tall. I can't sing for shit. I am not a creator nor am I an artist. Everything I experienced and felt these past two days, I don't own but belonged to you. I am in awe of you and and your brilliant talent.

You have the gift of prose that should make E.L. James and any other author out there green with envy. You took a tired storyline of a billionaire dominant and spun it with your own magic to create a work of art bordering on the Dear Miss Reiss,

You took a tired storyline of a billionaire dominant and spun it with your own magic to create a work of art bordering on the sublime. I have not slept for the past two days to marathon read this series YET I am all keyed up to do a re-read and experience things I might have missed and linger on scenes/words that blew me away - which is probably every page.

I am a book whore. I love books but I do not fangirl over authors. But to you I bow down.

It started well enough with a high angst level that sucked me in. Jonathan was still in love with his ex-wife but found himself drawn to Monica, the singing bird, and her submissive potential. It was the typical dominant/submissive start, glossing over the usuals - the contract, the hard limits and safewords. But it evolved beyond that. You delved deeper into the psyche of those kinds of people. Jonathan had the token scarred past and messed up parent but his need went beyond the urge to control. It was a compulsion which included sexual sadism (no beating around the bush here) and she was the perfect fit. In the midst of the heavy and bruising bdsm play numbering close to a million (it seemed), you made me believe that Jonathan and Monica were two kindred souls.

"We aren’t some casual fuck, and we never were. Not from the first night. Not from the first time I laid eyes on you. You were built for me. I denied it as long as I could, but we were meant to be together. You are the sea under my sky. We’re bound at the horizon.

Jonathan was mercurial, alpha, bossy, duplicitous and all kinds of broken. But it was Monica who stood out. In a genre filled with doormats, you created a heroine with a will of steel who is willing to do anything for her man.

"My name is Monica. I sing like an angel and roar like a lion. I am the owner and ruler of my mind. I keep my own counsel. I decide how I feel. I answer to no one."

It was a beautiful. Moving. Powerful. Intense. Epic. At times, it became littered with cliches. But with writing this amazing, I barely noticed them.

"Take me. Own me. Use me. Pick a verb. Just, please."
"Fuck you. I'm going to fuck you. That's my verb."

From the original conflict of Jonathan's unwillingness to form any actual relationship beyond the bedroom, you moved this story forward. The plot kept branching out to further drama. Normally, I would have called foul. I've read so many sequels with so much unnecessary drama thrown in to drag the story beyond what should have been a standalone. But not you. You weave a story so well that when you moved the story forward and created twists after twist, I moved along with you and bought it with my whole heart and mind.

"...Months ago, I'd been flying, my own buzz filling my ears, with a destination in mind but a path not mapped. I had a job and friends and hope. One night, I spilled a drink. I touched a man's hand, and I let him kiss me on the hood of his car. Some time after, I don't know when I fell into a web of lies and deceit. The harder I struggled, the more trapped I became. But who was the spider?...how could I get out of their fucking web?"

And you saved the best shit storm for last. Talk about going through the ringer. I believed it fully that I was about to go in a rage - not having slept for 2 days only for the story to possibly end that way. Well-played Miss Reiss. Thanks a lot for messing with my already screwed up mind. But at the end, I couldn't even be tired because you had me on the edge the entire time. I should be mad but I only have this for you...

4.5 stars. Wow - that was a roller coaster! I am left feeling like I want more! Lots of things happened toward the end of this book that definitely requires more explanation.

Loved the ending

Loved this series. Love how connected Jonathan and Monica are. So glad they were able to work through everything and get there happily ever after. Will read more from CD Reiss.
