LOL!! I wonder why they don't use the same model again and again. And they could even draw her. The picture as is is photoshopped up the wazoo.

Yeah, I'd go for books 2 and 3 (book 3 especially *sigh* <3 ). Rachel's character really evolves over the course of the series. There are some shocking revalations. Though really, it's not just Rachel that makes me love the series. Kim does a great job with the support characters too in my opinion.

34634 I love seeing the Chicago skyline. I miss Chi-town. But yeah, Hard Bitten's cover is my favorite so far.

34634 I'm actually sort of surprised not to see a mention (unless I missed it) of The Hollows/Rachel Morgan Series by Kim Harrison. Once I started reading CV, I really channeled that series. It's more of an upbeat urban fantasy with good laughs, action, and a stubborn, but kick-butt heroine. I get very similar vibes, just kind of in reverse. The Witch is the central character while the Vampire is the sorta bff/roomie. It's definitely not lacking in the hott guys, department either. I don't really have a top 10 hero/heroine list quite yet. I've read several series, but my faves characters are definitely:

Trent Kalamack - The Hollows
Kisten Felps - The Hollows
Rachel Morgan - The Hollows
Jenks - The Hollows
Big Al - The Hollows
Jean Claude - Anita Blake
Damon Salvatore - The Vampire Diaries (the book)
Morgan - Chicagoland Vampires(that is if we can include charas from this series)
Ethan - Chicagoland Vampires

I highly recommend The Hollows. Book 1 is a bit of a challenge to get through for some (it was for me), but after that it really picks up!

34634 Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to get back to you on my opinion. It may not take very long anyway as I seem to read about 3-4 books per week these days.

I tried a Night Huntress World book (Eternal Kiss of Darkness), and I just couldn't get interested in the writing style or storyline, though I did finish it. It really irked me how the author explained the obvious a little too much. And I didn't think the leading lady was written to be interesting and appealing to a 4,000 year old vampire.

I was told that I should maybe start from the top with the actual Night Huntress series. I may do that sometime later. My TBR list is ever long as is so it will be a while, but I'm bound to get there, lol. In the meantime I am reading the DarkSide Ghosts and Elemental Assassin books.

34634 I'm Erika. I read all 3 books back to back in about 4-5 days. It's definitely my favorite *new* Vampire series that I've taken up. Really looking forward to books 4 and 5. I really like the upbeat style and the humorous times.
Ethan or Morgan (56 new)

34634 I am fine with Ethan and Merit as a couple, but I like Morgan as a character (and as man candy) better than Ethan. Too bad it's only from Merit's perspective because I think Morgan could be very entertaining. I just don't want Ethan to play all of the games like in Book 3, causing unnecessary suffering. I felt really bad for Merit after he broke up with her. But then I felt bad for Morgan for how Merit kept treating him.

And I'm in the Lacey sucks bandwagon.
