25157 I'm on Chapter 20. Don't know where that is in page numbers as is audiobook, but it's before the funeral and the doctor isn't engaged yet.

I'm enjoying it very much. If people are finding it hard work, can I recommend the audio? (See other post). Daniel & I are both reading it that way, and I find some older authors' prose styles come off much more amenably in audiobooks (heresy, perhaps, but if you aren't enjoying it consider giving that option a try).

25157 Me too, Stephen. The audiobook I posted about is well-read and the quality is fine. I have a paper copy but so far it has been unopened!

The only problem (if you can call it that) is that my new workplace is 1 mile away vs. an hour, and I can't drive any more. That means much less audiobook listening! Otherwise I'd have cracked through it much faster.

25157 I think I'm about as far in as you (start of Ch 7 -listening on audiobook) and OK so far. I agree about the jabs at characters - very enjoyable.

25157 After much fruitless searching, I requested an audiobook of MM on a torrent site I use, and someone has posted it. It says it is unabridged although I am slightly suspicious that it may not be based on the file size. Either that or the quality just isn't great. Anyway, I will update you when it has finished downloading but if you want an invite to the torrent site (invite only) message me with your email address. It has loads of awesome audiobooks.

25157 I would have assumed St Theresa was a woman without reading the book, but what do I know? ;-)

25157 I got my copy plus my reader's guide yesterday. Not sure which of the two looks scarier.

25157 Yeah, Jen, we have to do that too. But I have a network of undercover agents (okay, one person) who usually does that for me, since she works right next to the library and my only wheels are two big, two small.

Stephen, I'm not bothered if some people start a bit earlier. I'll try to start when it arrives and when I have tied up the other literary loose ends I have going on. That will probably be in a couple of weeks.

25157 Oh, that's nothing. I'm such a bad person that I've had library books continuously for well over a year. I do always keep them renewed, though, and if anyone else requests them they go back. Mainly ones I want to keep referring to, or ones I do want to read but which have got pushed further and further down the list by incoming stuff. I like to maintain a shelf of books to pick from depending on what I feel like reading next. Oh, and then there are all the books I've read, but can't return just yet because I haven't written the reviews or notes from them yet...I also have the identities of many people so I can take out as many library books as I need to. I'm pretty much like the Pol Pot of the local library system, but hey, at least it boosts their usage figures, right?

25157 I don't really need to, seeing as I've got it from the library....

25157 I have no idea what this guide is like. I'll let you know when it arrives.

(And, um, I had no idea it was that long. At all. I probably should have checked that before I joined this harebrained scheme...)

25157 Well....it came up when I searched for MM at my library. Would you resist? WOULD YOU?

25157 Just ordered my copy, plus a reader's guide and an audiobook, from the library. Prepared, I will be.
