They married in haste. Would she repent at leisure?

A dark stranger....
Finding herself abandoned after the death of her father, Leandra Harcourt takes the greatest risk of her life. She accepts the marriage proposal of a complete stranger, the Duke of Derringer—a man the world calls Lord Heartless.

A heartless proposal....
A desperate girl with no prospects seems the perfect solution to Derringer's most recent problem: marry before his 30th birthday to gain his rightful inheritance, though marriage is the last thing he needs. The need to find his missing cousin takes priority over any silly marriage and he quickly abandons his new bride in the wreck of his family estate.

A perfect love....
Two people were never more suited for each other than the duke and his wife, but will they discover it before it's too late? With an assassin dogging his heels and a suitor wooing his wife, love will not have the luxury of time.

20370 YAY! My fantasy short story has been released into the world, thanx to TreasureLine Publishing! And it's only $0.99!

This story is a sort of prequel to the fantasy novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo '09. That novel remains unpublished, but that may change depending on how this short is received.

20370 There is a short story site called Clever Fiction. Every week, three writing prompts are revealed. Writers are encouraged to write a short (250-1000 words) using those three prompts. I've found it to be a very rewarding exercise. And in the first month, the site averaged over 600 hits per day. www.cleverfiction.com

20370 So...any new members out there in Goodreads land? Please, introduce yourself! :O)
Aug 18, 2011 04:47PM

20370 I wonder because 3 stars is actually a very good rating, especially here on Goodreads. Although I keep telling myself this, I still get a bit depressed when I get a 3-star review. I assume this is fairly normal, as we all aspire to be better than "average." Anybody out there got a secret for changing this thinking pattern, or at the very least coping with the feeling?

May 05, 2011 08:19AM

20370 Anything, really. Over a year ago we had a huge discussion about a fellow writer who targeted me while others have discussed negative reviews, some of which came from their "friends". So, basically, any experiences you've had and how you coped would be great. :o)
May 05, 2011 08:16AM

20370 Welcome, Cindy and Andrea! Take a moment to look through the different discussions we've had and add your social networking links to the appropriate threads (twitter, facebook, blogs, etc). And don't forget to add your books to the group shelf, if you can. :o)

20370 Hello, Ellen and S.B. Thanx for joining the group!

If you have any helpful hints in regard to dealing with the negativity that is a part of this profession, please start a discussion in one of the folders. We also have discussions (a bit old but by no means unhelpful) about facebook fan pages, twitter IDs, blogs and other networking sites. Please add your links in those places so we know where to find you.

Don't forget to add your books to the group shelf. :o)

20370 Oh, thank you so much, Milly! And thank you for stopping by the site. :o)
Jan 09, 2011 10:21AM

20370 It appears I need to update the opening post of this thread to include the newest facebook links. I'll get to that a bit later. Meanwhile, here's the link to my new facebook page, one dedicated to my cover design persona: http://www.facebook.com/pages/An-Auth...

20370 It's official! I've been designing book covers lately and I finally took the plunge and launched a website so people can easily contact me about covers. Come on over and check it out.

Have a great day, everyone!

20370 On Friday, August 13, a new collection of young adult short stories was released called Unlocked. Visit www.unlockedproject.com to download a free PDF copy.

Unlocked is ten tales by nine authors; the only thing that binds them is a "key."

Back cover blurb:

Treachery in old London, a crop circle mystery, and a cyborg punished for gazing at the night sky open this collection of new stories that will intrigue teens and adults alike.

Fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and fanciful versions of school life--the motif they share is a key. Which key will unlock a mystery, free the trapped, comfort the rejected, or bring new resolve to a boy who has taken a wrong path? What treasures can we discover if we only find the right key?

Title list:

Assassin's Keeper by Jaimey Grant
Crop Circles by Wendy Swore
Symbiote by Rita J. Webb
Where They Belong by Paige Ray
Survival by Jaimey Grant
Unlocking William by Jeanne Voelker
Shoshanna by K.G. Borland
The Key to a Good Education by Gwendolyn McIntyre
The Bookseller by Katrina Monroe
Her Father's Eyes by S.M. Carrière

Fun and games (including a paperback giveaway) is taking place in the Unlocked group here on Goodreads. Everyone's welcome, so please join.

Thanx for looking and I hope you enjoy the stories!

20370 My publisher, TreasureLine Publishing, has posted the cover for my upcoming Regency romance, Deception, on the TreasureLine facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Treasur...

Release is set for this summer. I'm so excited!! :oD
20370 I just got your book in the mail a few days ago and WOW. Stunning. I ADORE the b/w pic inside. You have the best publisher ever! ;o)

Congrats again!
20370 I love the idea of giveaways and gift sets! I did a giveaway last year, a signed copy of Redemption and a pearl necklace that my brother made. It was a lot of fun and we got tons of interest. The lady who won told me that she wore the necklace while reading the book. :o)

What kind of gift set ideas are you playing with?
