I'll definitely let you know how the progress goes! It's not my main reading goal right now, but I'll be picking them up here and there from my library.

17941 I just started The Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan. It's pretty good so far, and I'm excited to see how this books sets up the rest of the series.

Reading the whole list has been something I've been wanting to do for years, and I have to say, you have definitely inspired me to try it out. Have you ever had any problems finding any of the books (I'm talking about the ones from the '20s, the '30s, etc.) ?

17941 I adored this book! I wasn't sure that I was going to, just because everyone was raving about it and it seemed too cutesy for me, but boy was I wrong! I ended up loving it, and it is now one of my favorites. I have yet to read Lola, although it is high on my TBR list!
17941 I'm so glad I stumbled upon this conversation! This was one of my favorite childhood books. I've read it countless times--even as an adult!

I know that when I have kids someday, I will definitely be reading this to them!

Actually, the edition I have has all three of the books. I just don't have any time to read on! Hopefully over Thanksgiving I'll have a chance to read the other two!

17941 I just got finished reading The Golden Compass, and now I'm reading Cut, both for my YA class. I love this class!

17941 Has anyone here read The Book of Ember series? I believe they're dystopian, but I could be wrong. I checked them out of the library today, but I'm trying to finish East of Eden by John Steinbeck before I start them.

17941 Hi Jesi!

I know that a bunch of people mentioned it so far, but Pride and Prejudice is definitely one to check out. But like Fiona mentioned, it's all according to what your taste is.

I also particularly enjoy anything by John Steinbeck and Ernest Hemingway.

17941 Oh, this was one of my favorites growing up. I must have read it at least 10 times a year!

It's definitely got an old-fashioned, nostalgic feel despite have a current-day setting. I loved it!

17941 I'm reading The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy by Jeanne Birdsall, which I've heard a bit about. I read the first chapter and it's promising to be a good read.

17941 I tried reading the first one of these once but it didn't really grab me. I'll have to try it again, it looks like. Oh, my ever-growing TBR list...

17941 I loved Beverly Cleary, but the mouse books were definitely my favorite. Heather, like you, my favorite books were those with animal characters. One of my other favorites was Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.

17941 I picked up If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince? from the library yesterday and so far, I think it's hilarious! Lucy is so funny!

Besides, I'm a complete sucker for stories about kids struggling with stepparents and about being a highschool outcast.

Has anyone read this?
