1218 Japan

Undergroundby Haruki Murakami

I love his fiction (esp. Wind-Up Bird...) but this was really good. Strangely (maybe only to me), I read this just around the time of 9/11, when I was living in South America. Being an American so geographically removed from such a horrible act of terrorism, reading a book by a somewhat ex-pat Japanese author trying to understand a horrible act of terrorism in his home really resonated with me.
