I loved that series, Theo. Great fun. (Unlike The Book of Lost Things. I picked it up but wasn't drawn in. Going to waste some time and try it again. The wordsmithing is good.)

What did you think of Wither?

Thanks. I think I'll push that up higher on my list. Sounds like something I'd be more in tune with at the moment than my current reads.

Experimenting with Dust, which is a silly zombie book that I'm not sure I'll be able to finish. And The Loners, which I know I won't be able to stick with. (People that liked I AM NUMBER FOUR should probably check this book out)

How are you liking that? It's on my list but buried very deep.

The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey Never Fall Down by Patricia McCormick The Unwanteds (Unwanteds, #1) by Lisa McMann

The first two are good --although I doubt Wild Snail will be to everyone's liking. Never Fall Down was something else. Retelling of a survivor's story set in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge purges. Arn is 11 yo when it begins. Ends when he's 15.

The Unwanteds was disappointing.

1112 Periodically Amazon draws my attention (thru emails and on-site) to books that are temporarily reduced to 99cents. Why don't you go to self-published ebook forum on Amazon and see if there are any posts about this topic. I'm sure there are people there that have experimented with various cost models.

The writing is amazing. Mafi really uses it effectively to give Juliette an 'alien' feel.

I couldn't finish it.

OTOH, I'm enjoying Shatter Me

1112 Downloaded Shatter Me as an ebook from the library. It's so good.

1112 Just finished Rotters and Partials. Next up is Starters.

Rotters was entirely not what I was expecting. No zombies whatsoever. Liked the book. Partials was fun, but not knock your socks off good.

1112 Took back Under the Never Sky because it wasn't my cuppa tea. Picked up Starters and Partials.

Was it just me or was the writing 'babyish'. Short sentences. Staccato style. And strange descriptions... like, 'he moved when the fire inhaled.'

1112 I'm bumming. I was really looking forward to Under the Never Sky and I'm really getting turned off. I even read the sample -- which was great -- but the rest of the story isn't living up :(

I wish May would hurry up..."

Wow Donna, we're on the same track. I just finished both books and I agree with you about Ashes, Ashes, the ending was a let down. And really, I think if the author had dropped the gratuitous sexual references that her book when have made a solid read for middle-graders.

Just finished The Giver, which has been on The List forever and Bitterblue. Trying Rotters while waiting for my first choices to become available at the library. It's not at all what I was expecting.

1112 Over Sea, Under Stone and Rot & Ruin just came in through the library, so I guess I'll be starting one of these tonight.

1112 Don't beat me about the head and shoulders but I just couldn't get into WONDER. I think I just wasn't in the mood for another 'sensitive' book as I just finished The Fault in Our Stars which was amazing.

Took back the Beyonders book too. Instead read Ashfall and Green Heart both of which were very good. Currently reading Tony Abbott's new kid serie with my kids. The Battle Begins and When Monsters Escape. My YA read is The Eleventh Plague.

I haven't heard of Ashfall (I will check it out now :) ), Eleventh Plague is..."

I'm on a dystopia binge, Dawn, which means there's a lot of ashes in my reading ;]

1112 Jessica (BlogEared Books) wrote: "what did you think of ashfall? "

I liked Ashfall (Ashfall, #1) by Mike Mullin. Thought it was more fun than Ashes, Ashes and was better plotted. What did you think about the end of Ashes, Ashes. It sort of fell apart for me.

Melodie, I think book2 is coming out this fall. Can't wait.
