Me neither! After a lifetime spent in the sun with nothing but baby oil on, I have had skin cancer 3 times! Each time, they chopped parts off. It had to always be front and center, too. My chest, nose and hairline! They actually had to shave about 3 inches of my hair, too. I’ve had countless biopsies. My husband - - a surfer can’t understand why I don’t want to go to the beach anymore.
Why can’t it ever be on my back or arm or leg?

I use SPF 100 now. I’m a believer! I still have to go in for screening every 6 months. I just went in last week & I’m cleared til October now. *sigh*. Pasty white is the new normal…

Don’t get me wrong. Hawaii is very beautiful. If y’all come, just bring a bunch of money. The best thing on any island is the beach. If you can’t take the sun, don’t come!

We’re the only US state with a royal palace. In fact, we have 3 of them on 2 islands. The Polynesian Cultural Center is amazing. We have the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor & the Bishop Museum. Lots of amazing restaurants & music venues, hiking trails if you like that kind of stuff. Kualoa Ranch with horseback riding, RVing, tours, water sports - - it’s where they filmed Jurassic Park & hundreds of other movies…
Of course there’s Haleakala on Maui & the very active Kilauea volcano on the Big Island. There’s a lot to see and do! Just pricey$$$

We’re going to the Big Island this weekend for a cousin’s b-day party. I will be incommunicado from Saturday to Monday evening because there’s no wi-fi & spotty cell service. Still fun, though!

I speak Spanish! I am by no means fluent, but I took 6 years of Spanish in school! All my friends took Japanese, but I did not want to learn a different writing system! I can actually read & write in Spanish, but I’m not quick enough to think in it. I understand almost everything. We lived next door to a Nicaraguan guy for 13 years. Hoo boy! The things I heard! I finally told him I understood him & he sure cleaned up his act fast!
