770270 Molly Malone (excerpt)

In Dublin's fair city,
Where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,
As she wheeled her wheel-barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

Nostalgia for the 90s??? That makes me feel soooo old!
770270 Ha ha! Some fine wigs there, but not one of those. Actually its a Louis XV one.
770270 Its ok, I have ordered a wig.

Strictly speaking, everything we see is in the past. Light travels at 300 million metres per second, so the light from something 300 m away only takes 1 microsecond to reach us. For most of us, this short delay can be ignored.

770270 It could be that. I assume more will be revealed.
770270 OMG GB! (Tears remaining hair out) It may have happened, and we have not seen it yet. But when we do see it, it will have happened 500 years before that date.

770270 The city of Leicester is back in lockdown. What are they doing there?
770270 Ah, Confused of Grasshopperland ....

If we saw the supernova today, the photons conveying that image would have set off 500 years ago. For comparison, the photons from the sun only take 8 minutes to reach us.

Good news is in short supply. But I suppose still being alive counts. And I did get some milkshake powder today.

770270 Yes, eat them now! But at least you now know the magnitude of their achievements.

After virtual Glasto, we have now gone on to virtual Wimbledon.

I love the old ones so much!!"

Me too Pam! The sixties musicians helped to form my musical taste. It is good to still have some of them around. Of course they are now prey to death from natural causes, so I expect obituaries. Last month we lost a number of my jazz heroes.

There are various theories as to the meaning. My own is that Mick and Keith just found it amusing.

Way to roll Stones! You've always had the mettle!"

Mick and Keith burned much midnight oil, and sweated much from their brows, to create their songs. They should not be used by anyone without permission.

Pop trivia item: Some of their early songs were credited to "Nanker Phelge".
